The California Department of Real Estate's downloadable forms are in Portable Document Format (PDF). Some of these Real Estate Forms have been updated to allow you to fill them in, then print them out, while others only allow you to print, then fill them in manually. To use our PDF forms, you will need one of the following:
  • Adobe Reader, version 6.0 or better, which allows you to fill and print them or,
  • Adobe Acrobat Approval, version 5.0 or better, which allows you to fill, spell check, print, and save them or,
  • Adobe Acrobat, version 5.0 or better, which allows you to fill, print, and save them.
To download a PDF form to your computer's hard disk drive, right-click on (for Windows systems) or click-and-hold (for Macintosh systems) the form number, then choose Save target . . . or Save Link . . . from the menu.

Renewing licensees must complete and submit this application reflecting the appropriate hours of approved CE. Do not confuse continuing education courses with college-level semester or quarter unit statutory courses. Statutory courses are required for real estate examination qualification.

This form is to be submitted with the Broker Examination Application (RE 400B) and the proper broker examination fee. Under the Real Estate Law, an applicant for broker license without a college degree must have at least two years of active full-time experience as a licensed real estate salesperson or the equivalent.

Equivalent Experience Verification - RE 227

An applicant for the broker examination who has not been a licensed real estate salesperson may be eligible for the examination provided the applicant has acceptable equivalent experience. Regardless of the experience, the statutory real estate courses are required and do not qualify as part of the experience.

In addition to this application and the fee, California Real Estate Salesperson Applicants must submit a transcript or credit certificate showing proof of completion of a three semester or four quarter unit college-level course in California Real Estate Principles or an equivalent California DRE approved course. Alternatively, applicants may be scheduled for this examination by certifying under penalty of perjury that the are currently enrolled in an acceptable California Real Estate Principles course. Proof of completion of the course must be submitted before the original California Real Estate Salesperson License can be issued.

Do not confuse "statutory course" requirements with "continuing education" requirements. Statutory courses each consist of three semester or four college level units or they must be equivalent California DRE approved courses and are not interchangeable with continuing education course "clock hours."
